About Me

Hi! I’m Jacob Munter, a game designer currently studying at Sheridan College’s Game Design program. I’ve been making games since I could walk and talk. I came up with little games for my parents when I was 4 years old, and I would always inevitably change the rules whenever I started losing (a story my mom brings up to this day). As soon as I could write, I started sketching out ideas in various notebooks, creating my first design documents. As I got older, I started exploring level editors in my favourite games, and eventually started learning to code. All this led me to Sheridan’s Game Design program, which has taught me core design principles, how to effectively work in a team, and many other aspects of game development.

Outside of making and playing games, I love music. I’ve been playing the drums for a while, starting in my middle school concert band, and now mostly with my own group that I started with my friends. I’ve also been learning the guitar, which is quite difficult, but it’s satisfying to see improvement!

I’ve always enjoyed playing sports. When I was younger, I played lots of soccer, baseball, and basketball. The last 2 summers I’ve gotten into tennis, which I’ve been having a lot of fun with! It’s been a great way to spend time with my friends, and I got so competitive with it that I made a spreadsheet to track everyone’s win percentages.

Since I was 8, I’ve been climbing the CN Tower every year as a part of WWF’s Climb for Nature with my dad. My dad and I both believe in WWF’s conservation work, as well as torturing ourselves, so it’s the perfect fit!
